The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of behavior problems in infants with mental disorders on maternal parenting stress. The subjects of this research comprised 148 mothers of infants with mental disorders. The Korean Child Behavior Checklist 1.5-5, and the Korean Parenting Stress Index were both utilized as the measuring tools. The results of the study are as follows: First, total maternal parenting stress was seen to increase when mothers reported higher levels of 7 behavior problems studied. The Attention Problem and Withdrawn scale had a significant predictive ability when it came to predicting significantly total maternal parenting stress. Second, the Aggressive Behavior and Withdrawn scale also had a significant predictive ability when it came to predicting the child domain of parenting stress(adaptability, acceptability, distractibility-hyperactivity, mood, demandingness, and reinforcement to the parent are rated). Third, The Attention Problem, Withdrawn scale had a significant predictive ability when it came to predicting the parent domain of parenting stress(attachment, depression, role restriction, sense of competence, social isolation, and the spouse/parenting partner relationship). These findings revealed that withdrawn behavior had a significant predictive ability when it came to predicting the child domain and parent domain of parenting stress.
